About Us
DriveTime is the nation's leading used car dealership and finance company for people with less-than-perfect credit. We're in a market niche unique to us, above buy-here/pay-here dealers, and more specialized and tailored to fit our customer's needs than the franchised dealers.
By offering our customers innovative credit solutions, quality vehicles and outstanding customer service, we provide options to people who've been turned away by everyone else.
DriveTime, which is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, owns and operates 101 dealerships in 18 U.S. metropolitan areas. Each vehicle we sell undergoes our famous 53-point inspection, is run through Experian AutoCheck (an auto history database) and comes with our exclusive DriveCare® limited warranty.

Company History/Milestones
- Founded in 1992 as Ugly Duckling with two dealerships in Tucson, Arizona.
- Successor to Ugly Duckling Rent-A-Car. (Ceased rental car franchise operations in 1994.)
- Went public in 1996; raised $160 million in capital. Went private in 2002 and continues as a private company today.
- Grew from seven dealerships in 1996 to 101 dealerships today.
- Re-branded as DriveTime® in September 2002.

- Operate dealerships in 10 states and 18 metropolitan areas: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Greensboro, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Phoenix, Richmond, San Antonio, Tampa, and Tucson.
